Why do teachers give homework over break?

I've just almost finished my assignments for winter break. This is when I realized.. hey I bsed half of this stuff. So this question came to my mind.. why give homework over break? I've read some dumb excuses in which students will "burn out" and won't do homework because they forget. No.. the real reason that teachers shouldn't give homework over the break is becaues its USELESS.
I've asked many of my friends and they admitted that during break they will bs more than 90% of the homework they get. As a result, we don't really retain any information. Rather, we just waste our time and fun doing work we don't even pay attention too. The thing with homework over the break is that there is no lesson to back it up. Teachers can't reinforce your work or tell you what you are doing wrong.
If anyone ever comes across this homework, please discuss. ^.^

Hating how America is so Big

I hate how America is so freaking big. In the place where I live, there's really nothing to do.
It takes about 10 min. to get to anywhere like my friends house. And thats driving. I can't drive at fourteen and my parents are always making excuses of how they have "other things to do."
And even if I did get to my friends house, there's nothing to do there either except games.
My parents are always telling me to stop playing computer and do something outside or something.
But what am I gonna do outside? Pull grass and sit around?

And then, whenever I'm sitting at the computer and laughing at some anime/w.e., they tell me to do some work or something. AM I NOT ALLOWED TO LAUGH!?!?!?!?!?!?!? SHIZ!
All my parents ever talk about is work work work work, college college college college, future future future future. WHO GIVES A !@#$%^. I"M FOURTEEN! I've been working my brain off since frkng grade school.

SERIOUSLY!
My city, has nothing
It's a place in the middle of no where, and all there is are houses.
No stores, no where to actually hang out and have a good time.
I think my city is a retirement city. Why the FCK do people have young families here??
I have no idea what my mom and dad were thinking...... =.=

If anyone ever ends up reading this blog, I hope you don't start a family in the middle of no where where this is nothing to do. Your children will die from monotonous activities. GAH!!

ok rant over. back to homework. =.=

Thoughts about a New JP student

Yesterday at school, I discovered there was a new JP exchange student. Though he seemed to understand English quite well but he could not speak it. The strange thing is everyone seemed to be interested in him! I find it quite amazing that even though America is so diversified, foreigners are still a subject of attention. It is so awesome that even though all our cultures are mixed, we still can be so interested in other cultures.
I remember one day my geography class asked weather America was a melting pot where cultures are mixed into one big one or a salad in which things are mixed but not in a solution. Today, I feel that it is a melting pot. Our cultures are so mixed together that it is no longer recognizable from our past ones. That is why we can be so interested in other cultures and other people from other countries.

I honestly have no idea what I should use a blog for. So, I am going to type up interesting daily events on here. Today, is New Years Eve. I have made a New Years Resolution. Even though it will probably not help much, I hope to make the most of it.

1. Grow closer to God and trust in Him for my life.
2. Get better at piano, and learn the guitar. Art is one of the most valuable gifts given by God.
3. Work harder in school and get an A in the hardest of my classes.
4. Make memories that I can cherish to make this a great year.
